Ovio gives the adjustable spotlight a shape of its own: a housing that begins as a circle at the ceiling and resolves into an oval towards the front, a shift that lends the light a quiet sense of direction and an identity you notice on a second look. Ovio is the first lighting collection created by Studio Piet Boon and Deltalight. In a room, Ovio does more than mark a point of light. It reveals materials, gives surfaces depth and guides the eye, without demanding attention. Designed for residential, hospitality and commercial interiors, it pairs one consistent design language with precise application.

Studio Piet Boon defined the form, proportions and spatial intent of Ovio. Deltalight translated that vision into a technically resolved product family, ready for precise application across projects.
Light that shapes the space
For Ovio, light is part of the architecture. It reveals materials, defines surfaces and directs attention without becoming dominant in the space. Adjustable positioning, a choice of beam angles and a recessed light source let the light land exactly where the architecture asks for it, with CRI90 colour rendering as standard for faithful materials.
One family, one visual language
Across its semi-recessed, surface-mounted and low-voltage module versions, Ovio keeps the same silhouette. That lets a designer carry one visual language through different ceilings, different rooms and different mounting situations, so the lighting stays consistent across a whole project.
Design & functionality
The transition from circle to oval is the defining detail of Ovio. At the ceiling the housing is a circle; towards the front it resolves into an oval. The shift is gradual and continuous, with no seam and no break, just one shape becoming another. Repeated across a ceiling, it settles into a quiet, composed rhythm. The shape draws on the sculptural language of Richard Serra, giving it weight, movement and perspective. The same approach to form recurs in other Studio Piet Boon collaborations, connecting Ovio to the studio’s wider work.
Three finishes tie the form to the material world of the interior. White integrates quietly into light ceilings and plasterwork, Black Bronze introduces a warmer, tactile contrast against wood and stone, and Brushed Anthracite adds a soft, matte depth.
The technical configuration supports the design intent. CRI90 as standard, a choice of 2700K or 3000K and different beam angles let the light adapt to the space, while a recessed light source and an optional honeycomb louvre support visual comfort. Linear-spread, softening and sandblasted lenses let the specifier shape the light precisely to the space. Ovio is built on Deltalight’s Spy II 39 optical platform.

Designed for long-term use
Ovio is built to stay in service. Its modular construction treats parts like the light source and the optics as individual components, made to be maintained, replaced or upgraded instead of discarded as a whole. A replaceable light source extends the working life of the fixture without renewing the entire unit. Careful detailing and a considered form make Ovio a luminaire to maintain over a long life, not to replace.
