Deltalight X Milano 2017 (IT)
With 25.000 visitors coming from 130 countries the temporary Milan installation proved to be a huge success. Jan Ameloot, managing director “We were overwhelmed by both the quantity and the quality of our audience. It was our aim to take our visitors on an experiential journey, merging light, form and architecture. Seeing the amazement on people’s faces and the overwhelming feedback was a great confirmation”.
A spatial phenomenon of reflection between light, form and architecture
During Design Week, Milan unveils its secret places. One of these, the garden of Palazzo Crivelli, was open to the public for the first time. Deltalight took the occasion creating a striking black tunnel connecting the majestic courtyard with the historical building and its sprawling 2500m² garden. The stark simplicity of the interference highlighted the inherent characteristics of the environment, focusing on the contrast between baroque elements and modern touches; the use of mirrored facades, colourful 3D videos, architectural lighting effects along with the minimalistic use of colors and materials resulted in a unique and multisensory experience.
New collections & collaborations
With a brand-new magnetic Splitline profile range and the Superloop collection (a versatile series of loops in various applications and diameters), Deltalight presented new in-house designed collections. The combination of the Superloop Spy with the crystal chandelier of the building proved to be a much loved and photographed object.
In the garden, visitors discovered design collaborations with leading architect office OMA (XY180), award-winning lighting designer Dean Skira (Polesano) and artist-designer Arik Levy (Butler). All three designers collaborated with Deltalight on the scenography of their collections, resulting in a sensational interaction between the product, the space and the visitor.
Global projects
To highlight its portfolio of global and high-profile projects Deltalight invited some of the world’s leading architects for a series of project talks. Julian Weyer of CF Møller, Jenny Osuldsen of Snohetta, Bruno Erpicum of AABE, Alfonso Femia of 5+1AA Architects and Tarik Zaharna of T.Zed Architects, all took the stage in an informal lounge setting, sharing their collaborations with Deltalight, portfolio and insights.
