Delta Light makes a huge effort to make its products and processes as sustainable as possible. It’s a constant process: we take new steps toward more conscious choices in the field of ecology and social commitment every day.

Sustainability is in our DNA

As a company, we can’t become 100% sustainable overnight, but we can safely say that we are on the right track. In any case, we’re off to a strong start because Delta Light products are sustainable in and of themselves. Not only because of the energy-efficient and sustainable LED technology we use, but especially because our lighting stays lit for the long term: it’s timeless, of very high quality and you won’t be in a hurry to replace it.

Innovation with an ecological impact

When developing new products, we always think about their ecological impact. Our minimalist designs incorporate the most advanced technology: finding the sweet spot between aesthetics, light that’s soft on the eyes, and energy-efficient solutions. A good example is the flexible 'smart lighting' Soliscape, a joint development with Ben van Berkel of UNStudio.

Production using solar power

For Delta Light, having the most ecological production processes possible is the light at the end of the tunnel. This is why Delta Light headquarters has more than 2,534 solar panels on its roof. It might seem ironic that a lighting company is using natural light to make artificial light, but we have huge respect for what the sun can do. The solar panels we use provide 650 kWp – enough for our own consumption.

Recycling and packaging

All the parts used to make Delta Light products are recyclable. The materials themselves, such as aluminium, are also reusable. In addition, we package everything as compactly and sustainably as possible. Less to ship, and less use of plastic. This strategy has already earned us several eco-design awards from Lighting for Good. We work closely with our suppliers, customers and partners to encourage and inspire others throughout the supply chain to use this approach.

A safe and healthy working environment

We also like to create sustainable relationships – not only with our professional network but also amongst our employees. We strive for a 100% safe and healthy working environment, paying close attention to the physical and psychological well-being of everyone in the team. This includes offering professional and career guidance. It also means regularly organising light-hearted activities that bring everyone together and give colleagues a chance to connect and socialise outside of working hours. Afterall, what can be better than a work environment that’s all sweetness and light?

Social engagement

As an international lighting manufacturer, Delta Light has a big opportunity to make a positive ecological and social impact. An inclusive personnel policy is a no-brainer for us. We also work together with organisations that employ people with disabilities. And we, too, hire employees and independent contractors with impairments. We make it a habit to participate in charity events and also give financial support to valuable organisations such as the King Baudouin Foundation, which works toward social cohesion and the common good. Our belief is that if we give light, then people will find the way.
